Revelation 3:7-13
Churches that are growing follow God with open abandonment. God uses those who are willing to follow. Victories come to those who want it more not the biggest or fastest.
Philadelphia was a gateway city. It was prone to earthquakes. It had a small church with a big heart. It was a lone column standing among ruins.
The Call
(A door of opportunity? A door to the Kingdom?)
1. Only God can open the door
2. When God shuts a door it can't be opened
- God sees the other side of the door and loves us too much to open the door
3. The door that God opens no one can shut it
-There may be negative thoughts all around you but go through it
The Condemnation
(Reason for open door? Another part of the message?)
1. You have little power (you are small but mighty in spirit)
- Those who are humble, God will bless
2. You have Kept my word
Honor you:
A. Vindicate His children before enemies
B. Deliverance from final trial (tribulation?)
No matter if you are pre-trib, mid-trib, post-trib, or no trib, He will protect us
C. Assurance at His coming (hold fast)
Do you love the idea of His appearance? Are you living for Jesus?
3. Promise
A. He will make you strong and secure, a pillar in the temple of God
Our strength isn't in Wall Street
B. New name - new identity, 'city of God,' We have a home in new Jerusalem
