March 23, 2008 - David Uth - "Until I see..."
John 20:19-31
Thomas, “doubting Thomas,” was there when Jesus first came to see the Disciples after he rose from the dead. Thomas heard their stories about what happen but he wanted to see it with his own eyes and touch with his hands.
Easter comes alive when Jesus walks in your life and you know for sure. You can’t lock Jesus out of your life – He just shows up! Jesus doesn’t need an email – He knows what you are thinking, every skeptic, every mind boggling questions, he knows what is in your heart.
Thomas Wanted to Learn for Himself
Thomas didn’t need to touch him—he just believed. When you see Him there is no need to touch. Blessed our those who believe, believe in a God they can not see. Some people are looking for answers. Jesus can handle whatever question you have. There is nothing wrong with wanting to learn for your self. What your mom and dad believe is not the point—what do you believe? God doesn’t have Grandchildren, just children, each person has their own relationship.
Thomas Wanted to experience Jesus
Easter is when Jesus walked out of a tomb and into your life. Christianity is not policy, procedures, rules. There is no correspondence class for swimming. You have to jump in! If you are thirsty and I drink water you don’t benefit in any way you must drink for your self. Belief is about trusting someone, having faith. Believe is when you stretch out and rest - in the fact and promise of the resurrection.
When you believe it changes your life
Your life is never the same and neither is your future, it will never be the same. The story of Edith Burns, “Do you believe in Easter?” Click Here for Edith's Story By believing it changes your future – it gives us hope and we no longer have to fear. Our greatest enemy is death. Jesus resurrection saves us from that fear. We will have everlasting life if we believe—you will live forever!
Gives us the keys to death. Who holds the keys is in charge, Jesus has the keys to get you out of hell. He can open the gates of hell. We don’t have to be a slave to death. When you believe in Easter, it changes you. It gives you hope.
