The Church has Left the Building - My Witness in Jerusalem

Nov 9, 2009
David Uth

Acts 1:6-11

We are not suppose to know when Jesus will return we are just suppose to be His witness.

5 Things Jesus Tells Us

1. We are witnesses
You Shall be... is a command.
Who - us, For Who? Him, not the church
We are not far from him because he lives in us.

2. Witness is the word for "martyr"
You will not be a good witness until it is not about you. The biggest reason Christians don't witness isn't about loss-it is about our fear.

3. More than one way to witness
Knocking on doors works for some people but not for others. There are at least 6 styles of witnessing described in the Bible. The first step is to simply invite someone. Ask someone to come see, watch the Trees, visit a Life Group. 96% of un-churched people would like to come to church if someone invited them. 2% of church people actually invite others to church.

4. You have all you need to witness
The command is to be filled continuously but you have everything you need.

5. Start where you are
Start with your home and your family. Jerusalem is considered to be home. In the scripture, Jesus doesn't choose 1 out of 4 locations-he said all of them. Jesus had 132 conversations and 122 came in situations that were a natural part of life.
