Dr. David Uth - July 13, 20081 Samuel 15:22-23
What has been your biggest lesson about listening and obeying God?
Jeff Lawrence - to surrender, You have to take your first step and then you will feel the peace of God.
God uses people in your life to point you to Him.
Saul lost his kingdom because of his disobedience. Every time you disobey you loose something. At the heart of disobedience is rebellion. You make the call and tell God you don't need Him. You decide to go against the creator.
Rebellion is like divination - it removes the creator from the center of your life and you put your trust in others. This is an act associated with telling the future. Going against God is like going to a fortune teller.
Better than Sacrifice
We make a presumption - we know better than God. At the heart of obedience is worship. Obedience is the greatest sacrifice. Jesus said if we love him we will obey. Everyone of us is capable of obeying.
